Lunarpages vs HostGator

If you thought that statistics are sometimes misleading, then this is a classic example of that. When you look at the popularity of Hostgator and Lunarpages, you might not find a big difference in that. Especially if you look at their rankings, which really are very close, because Hostgator is ranked 5, and Lunarpages 6! What possibly supports them is their customer support, and though Lunarpages is not entirely popular for this, Hostgator has won critical acclaim over the years.

Ah yes! Customer support is important, and one of the main reasons for that is people need technical assistance especially when they are using web hosting services. Hostgator, when it started, did not do too good on this front. As a reason of that, the popularity begun to dip! Hostgator management realized this, worked overtime on that, and got it fixed on time. As on date, the customer support of Hostgator is considered to be one of its benchmarks of good performance.

Lunarpages on the other hand offers unlimited MYSQL Databases. This is one feature that very few other web hosting service providers offer. Considering that a lot of people prefer using MYSQL databases due to its flexibility, this should have meant Lunarpages moves right up the ladder in terms of popularity. But the inadequate functioning of its customer support has turned again to haunt these guys. And in a big way at that!

Both these web hosting service providers offer Cpanel, and a range of other benefits that will do enough to keep them on an even keel. If only it would not have been for their customer support, surely there would have been a tie for the Position Number 5. In fact, would you believe that quite a lot of people even think that both these service providers’ plans are a bit overpriced, and there are better plans available for the price in the market.

Moral of the story – A web hosting service provider may offer you one of the best technical services. But all of that could come to zilch, if it is not backed up with a good customer support team. Apart from the customer support being technical enough, it should also be timely to answer the queries of customers.
